D-017 List: Category Taxonomies says taxonomies 1 and 2 are "Deprecated, and recommend NOT be used". Are they codes of the vocabulary, and does the schema warn on them?
What the schemas do
Core terms, each labeled with its deprecation; a payload that uses one is still valid, and a warning on the attributes that carry a taxonomy waits until AdCOM's objects are mapped.
Options
Why
A deprecated code is still a code: old payloads carry it, and Content.cattax even defaults to 1. Leaving the codes out would reject those payloads. "Recommend NOT be used" reads as NOT RECOMMENDED, and a code alone can show it, so a warning is a fair reading; but the code is used through an attribute, cattax, whose default makes taxonomy 1 the value of an absent Content.cattax, so the warning belongs on those attributes, beside their defaults, which aren't mapped yet. Until then, each code's label carries the deprecation for every reader of the vocabulary.
What we ask the specification to state
Make Content.cattax default to the same taxonomy as Ad.cattax and Restrictions.cattax, which default to 2, or to a current one: today an absent cattax on Content means taxonomy 1, which this list recommends against.
