D-015 AdCOM removed the codes of the legacy List: Placement Subtypes - Video, which OpenRTB 2.6's deprecated placement and VAST's [PLACEMENTTYPE] macro still cite, and whose codes clash with List: Plcmt Subtypes - Video. What does the registry hold?

What the schemas do

Plcmt Subtypes - Video, the list AdCOM publishes; the legacy list has no codes, so it becomes no vocabulary.

Options

  • current-only Chosen

Plcmt Subtypes - Video, the list AdCOM publishes; the legacy list has no codes, so it becomes no vocabulary.

  • both

Restore the legacy list as a deprecated vocabulary beside the current one.

Why

The legacy list's section holds only a note that it is deprecated as of an OpenRTB release, so AdCOM publishes no codes for it, and the registry holds what AdCOM publishes. The two lists' codes clash, 1 being In-Stream in the legacy list and Instream in the current one but 5 being Interstitial in one and Pause in the other, so a value can't say which list it comes from. The current list also says it is "sent using plcmt attribute in Object:Video", while AdCOM's VideoPlacement carries it as ptype.

What we ask the specification to state

Restore the legacy codes as a deprecated list, so that the VAST macro and OpenRTB 2.6's placement still resolve, and say in Plcmt Subtypes - Video that AdCOM's VideoPlacement.ptype carries it, beside OpenRTB 2.6's plcmt.

main

  • List: Plcmt Subtypes - Video, a sentence L4205 at 26c59ba
To be sent using plcmt attribute in Object:Video.
  • List: Plcmt Subtypes - Video, the row of 1 L4211 at 26c59ba
1 | Instream: Pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll ads that are played before, during or after the streaming video content that the consumer has requested. Instream video must be set to “sound on” by default at player start, or have explicitly clear user intent to watch the video content. While there may be other content surrounding the player, the video content must be the focus of the user’s visit. It should remain the primary content on the page and the only video player in-view capable of audio when playing. If the player converts to floating/sticky subsequent ad calls should accurately convey the updated player size.
  • Object: VideoPlacement, the VideoPlacement.ptype key row L1373 at 26c59ba
ptype | Placement subtype. Refer to List: Plcmt Subtypes - Video.
